After finishing his B.A. in 2002 from the University of Texas at Austin, Carlos spent several years teaching English as a Second Language classes to professionals in Madrid, Spain. While in Madrid, he became fluent in Spanish, and traveled extensively, visiting approximately two dozen countries. Upon his return, Carlos used his teaching skills to help immigrants learn English with the ESL department of the El Paso Community College.
Carlos attended Texas Tech University School of law on scholarship. During his time at the law school, he volunteered in several pro bono clinics, and spent his final year helping indigent clients overcome tax burdens through the school’s Low Income Tax Clinic. He also earned the Excellence in Legal Research certificate, and held a summer intern position with Judge David Briones of the Western District of Texas. He is currently admitted to practice in the state of Texas and the Western District of Texas
In his free time, Carlos enjoys training for cycling road races and restoring vintage bicycles.
